Run for NLG - Southern Regional VP

Any comrades in the southern region...we really encourage you to go for this position!!! R y R
__________________________________________
Calling all student NLG leaders in the south!!! Run for the Southern RVP
position or nominate a student member for the position.

The Southern Regional Vice President position is a great way to meet legal
activists across the country and internationally. It is also an amazing
opportunity to be involved in shaping the goals, vision, and direction of
the National Lawyers Guild.

If you are excited by and committed to the work of the NLG you should run
for the RVP position. Elections will be held at the southern regional
convention, which will be in Nashville, TN on July 7-9, 2006.

If you helped start or lead your student chapter you have the skills and
commitment it takes to be the RVP.

You must be a paid and active member to run for the position. All
candidates are required to write a short candidacy statement that will be
sent to all southern members. An election will be held at the regional
convention, and members who cannot attend will be invited to mail in their
vote.

The RVP represents the Southern region at National Executive Committee
(NEC) Meetings which are held four times a year. Usually 3 meetings are in
NYC and one is at the National Convention. Trip expenses are paid by the
region. The RVP is also responsible for staying in contact with chapters
that need assistance, helping organize the Highlander Student Conference
and the Regional Conference, and facilitating regional meetings at the
national and regional conferences. The RVP also maintains contact with the
national office to ensure regional dues are released to the region.
Finally the RVP writes short reports in advance of each NEC meeting to
provide an update on what is happening in the region.

If you have any questions about the position or if you would like more
information about what it entails please feel free to contact me at
steckley@riseup.net.

Please consider running for RVP! It is a great way to really expand your
law school experience.

In Solidarity,
Steckley
