SUMMER INTERNSHIPS for
DESI YOUTH
  
DRUM (Desis Rising Up & Moving) YouthPower! is looking for Desi youth in New York City ages 15 to 19 for a summer youth internship.
 
 
 
µ Work with other Desi youth to stop the attack on             immigrants                                                              
                                                                         
µ Join high school students organizing for real change in their  
   schools                                                                
                                                                         
µ Fight for equal access to education for immigrant youth                                                                                 
 
 
 
 5 week paid internship: July 10th to August 14th
Organize with other Desi youth to remove the NYPD from our schools and secure real protections for immigrant students
Discuss social justice issues like:
 
RACISM, SEXISM, IMMIGRANT JUSTICE,
GLOBALIZATION, & POVERTY
 Learn how to organize for immigrant justice
 3 Days a week / 10 hours per week 
 $400 stipend upon completion of program

Applicants must be of South Asian origin meaning Bangladeshi, Bhutanese, Guyanese,Indian, Nepali, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, Trinidadian, or from the South Asian diaspora.

4.     Does being an immigrant make it hard for you to get an education?  What obstacles do you face?  Please explain.
