 5.  Organizing Positions
a)       SEIU Local 3, Columbus,  Cincinnati, and Cleveland
SEIU Local 3 is seeking full time organizers for campaigns in Columbus and Cincinnati to build power for low-income janitors for  who are primarily African American, Latino, and African immigrants  for sustainable wages, healthcare, respect and dignity on the job. Responsibilities include:  Make contact with workers at their job sites;â*¢ Educate and mobilize workers through one on one visits at their homes; Organize worker committees and meetings;
Organize actions and events, and  Outreach to community allies.

   b)  Field Staff Organizer, Planned Parenthood, Central Ohio/Southeast Ohio
     Planned Parenthood is seeking staff to coordinate, and implement a field organizing program designed to increase the number of pro-choice, pro-family planning activists in Ohio. Responsibilities include: Identify tabling, recruiting, and other visibility opportunities; manage volunteer phone banking, canvassing, street visibility events; schedule house parties; solicit speaking opportunities; register voters; recruit action network members, activists, and volunteers; work regional level coalition partnerships in concert with local and state coalitions; and other grassroots efforts identified by PPAO Executive Director and State Field Manager.

   c) Outreach Organizer/Community Educator, Planned Parenthood, Northeast Ohio
            Planned Parenthood of Greater Cleveland is seeking an outreach organizer and community educator. The person will be responsible for  mobilizing activists and supporters in communities throughout Seneca, Sandusky, Huron, Erie and Lorain Counties to support and secure full access to reproductive freedom and sexual health.  The person will work closely with other members of the Horizons Project and collaborating agencies, including other PPGC departments, to coordinate activist recruitment, retention and activation efforts in line with agreed upon collaborative goals.   The person will plan, develop and implement events for potential supporters and activists in target communities.
The person will also develop, implement and monitor the education departmentâ*™s programs, training and outreach activities in all four counties as well as  establish community contacts for the purpose of marketing education department programs and presentations, patient recruitment in Lorain, and initiating collaborations

d) Early Care and Education Campaign Intern, Center for Community Solutions, Cleveland
            The Center for Community Solutions has an opening for Public Policy and Advocacy Internship with the Ohio Early Care and Education Campaign.  The OECEC was formed December 2003 to develop and advance a state budget agenda that reflects this priority that investment in Ohioâ*™s youngest children will result in better outcomes for our children, their families, the economy, and the state.  In order to achieve this goal, the campaign is building the political and public will necessary to significantly increase the stateâ*™s financial commitment to early care and education (ECE).
            The intern will participate in field organizing, research, writing, and administrative support to the OECEC team with minimal supervision. This is an excellent opportunity to participate in a large-scale, statewide policy initiative. The intern will be an integral part of the campaign team, working closely with the field director and campaign coordinator to organize field outreach.  The intern will also assist in planning statewide events, such as gubernatorial forums, a public launch of the campaign, and various media events.
            Candidates for this position should have an academic background in political science, communication, sociology, or a related field. Applicants should have very strong organizational and interpersonal skills.  Position requires a commitment of 15-25 hours per week. A stipend is available and the Center for Community Solutions will work with students to coordinate with academic credit opportunities.
