SECOND-GENERATION

SOUTH ASIAN WOMEN STUDY

My name is Nazreen and I am a student at the CUNY Graduate Center
conducting a qualitative, interview based, study on the factors
affecting second-generation South Asian American women's sexual
health choices (i.e. abstinence, sterilization, condoms, the Pill and
other methods).

This study will explore the issues affecting second-generation South
Asian American women's decisions on their sexual health (fertility
control and sexually transmitted disease protection). The interviews
conducted are important in order to add to the literature on South Asian
American women's sexual health.

Participants are not obligated to discuss all questions and may refuse
to discuss any of questions or stop the interview at any time.
Pseudonyms (alternate names) will be given to participants in the final
publication to ensure privacy protection.

Women participating in this study should meet all of the following
prerequisites:

* Participant's mother born in South Asia (India, Pakistan,
Sri-Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh) and spent at least 15 years there.
* Participant born in the United States or arrived in the U.S. before
age 12.
* Participants who are married, dating, or single may participate.
* Participants must be over 18 years old.
* Participants should be available for interviews immediately (I will
work with your schedule).
