FW: GOT ACCESS?

------ Forwarded Message
From: Salvador Sarmiento Torres <sgsarmiento@ucdavis.edu>

hermanas/os,

There's some ugly cases that are going to be argued in front of the supreme
court in December. In one complaint, los muy chingones are asking for the
court to overturn GRUTTER, the decision that allows race-conscious
admissions as long as its only one plus factor of many. Overturn GRUTTER
and you've taken the canines out of BROWN v. BOARD OF EDUCATION. How do
schools desegregate w/o taking race into account? They don't. How do you
make institutions reflect the people they are meant to represent without
taking into account a history of systematic exclusion based on race? You
can't.

Our National Latina/o Law Student Ass'n is asking students to inform
themselves about their school's admissions policies and the December cases.
What are you doing with your free time? Lay off the remote, get involved.

A son of Affirmative Action,

Salvador Gregorio
