Subject: Please Support the Watada National Tour: Oct 26-Nov 17

Please excuse duplicates.

Dear folks:

Bob Watada, father of 1st Lt. Ehren Watada, will be on a national speaking tour
from Oct. 26 - Nov. 17.
Lt. Watada is the first commissioned officer in the US military to refuse
deployment to Iraq because he believes the Iraq war is illegal and immoral. He
is now facing a court-martial trial and the possibility of over 8 years in
military prison for his decision of conscience. (see www.thankyoult.org)

Your help is needed to publicize the speaking events in the following cities:

Phoenix, AZ
Albuquerque, NM
Houston, TX
Austin, TX
Norman, OK
Miami, FL
Cincinnati, OH
St. Paul, MN
Milwaukee, WI
Boston, MA
Cambridge, MA
Worcester, MA
Portland, ME
Brunswick, ME
Albany, NY
Philadelphia, PA
New York, NY
Long Island, NY
Ann Arbor, MI
St. Louis, MO
Norfolk, VA
Asheville, NC
Altlanta, GA

Please help "get the word out" to your friends, relatives, and other interested
contacts in these areas.

Bob Watada is an eloquent and moving advocate for his son, having already spoken
to packed crowds in Northern and Southern California cities. It has been so
inspiring to see diverse communities (including peace, veteran, labor,
civil/human rights, educators, students, religious, ethnic/racial, youth) come
together. This is a great opportunity for the public to learn:

Why Lt. Watada refused deployment
About his upcoming military trial
Why he believes the Iraq war is illegal and immoral
Why this is a civil rights issue--not just a military one
WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR OUR COMMUNITIES and OUR COUNTRY.

Here's the tour schedule as of today (also, see www.veteransforpeace.org for
updates to the tour schedule).
If folks are interested to help out or need more information about an event,
please have them contact the representative listed on the schedule.

Thank you for your kind consideration.
Grace Shimizu
