The National Association of Hispanic Publications (NAHP) is proud to announce a partnership with Time Warner Cable to present the "Time Warner Cable Hispanic Heritage Scholarship." Both the NAHP and Time Warner Cable share a commitment to supporting the Hispanic community through education. The Time Warner Cable Hispanic Heritage Scholarship will be a fundamental stepping-stone for 13 Hispanic students, helping them with financial support that is sometimes needed to gain a higher education.

Students can apply for a scholarship by writing a 500-word (or less) essay that addresses the following:

How have (or can) home communication and entertainment products play an important role in the advancement of your education?

Where do you see the future of these products (technology) heading and how will they redefine education, the way we live, and making education more fulfilling and accessible to the community?

According to Maida Chicón, Director of Multicultural Marketing for Time Warner Cable, "Time Warner Cable continually serves its communities through innovative cable products, programming, Internet access and helping to provide the tools necessary to further enhance learning experiences. We are especially pleased to be collaborating with the National Association of Hispanic Publications this year. Together, we hope to garner many applicants for the scholarships."

"As we seek to continually support the dreams and aspirations of our Hispanic community, programs such as the Time Warner Cable Hispanic Heritage Scholarship provide a way for aspiring students to reach their full potential," said Eddie Escobedo, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the NAHP Foundation. "We are honored to be partnering with Time Warner Cable in this initiative. It is essential we recognize the accomplishments of our Hispanic community rewarding our talented youth for their achievements, therefore bridging the economic gap that often inhibits our students from obtaining the higher education they deserve. The Time Warner Cable Hispanic Heritage Scholarship highlights the educational services Time Warner Cable offers our community, and the financial support provided through these scholarships will serve as an important tool for students."

The contest is open to U.S. residents, 18 or older as of 9/15/06 who are currently enrolled in and attending a College/University/Vocational/Trade school in the U.S. Time Warner Cable will award the following prizes to the 13 top essays.

One Grand Prize of a $3,000 scholarship;
One First Prize of a $2,000 scholarship;
One Second Prize of a $1,000 scholarship;
Ten Third Prize Scholarships of $500 dollars.

The National Association of Hispanic Publications Foundation will participate in the judging panel to select the winners of the scholarships. For complete details, and to enter electronically or download an application, log on to: www.TWCHispanicScholarship.com
