[AZ] One shot and killed, another wounded, in attack on immigrants
The Arizona Republic / Feb. 2, 2007
Authorities are searching for four men who attacked 12 undocumented immigrants, killed an Eloy man and shot a Mexican youth, Pinal County Sheriff's Office officials said.
Authorities said the man who was killed was driving a pickup truck containing 12 undocumented immigrants late Saturday in an Eloy farm field when four heavily armed men in a white van began firing on them.
All four men were wearing military-style berets, camouflage pants and shirts, authorities said. [...]

[CA] Escondido Minuteman Brigade targets hiring sites
North County Times / Jan. 31, 2007
A newly formed group of anti-illegal immigration protesters has begun rallying at a popular hiring site in the central part of the city with the intent of curbing the hiring of illegal immigrants and decreasing problems they say the immigrants cause.
Escondido resident David Cline formed the Escondido Minutemen Brigade - an offshoot of the San Diego Minutemen, a prominent anti-illegal immigration group--in December...
The Escondido Minutemen work in association with the San Diego Minutemen, a group that in the last year has protested at day-labor sites and promoted legislation that targets illegal immigration. However, Cline said the new group operates separately in response to problems that occur specifically in Escondido. [...]

[AZ] Anti-vigilante lawmaker receives death threats
The Arizona Republic / Jan. 30, 2007
Last year, state Rep. Kyrsten Sinema introduced a bill that essentially would have outlawed civilian border patrol groups like the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. [...]
Sinema said that it isn't the honest intentions of most people affiliated with such organizations that bother her, but a belief that they attract racist extremists and other xenophobic recruits to their cause.
"What has happened over the past week or so more or less proves that point," she told me.
Ordinarily, when a long-shot piece of legislation falls in the forest of such bills at the state Capitol, no one notices. This particular proposal caught the attention of Minuteman members and their supporters, however. Word immediately went out over Internet message boards and blogs. [...]
The e-mails piled up quickly, many of them not only expressing disagreement but threatening Sinema with everything from death to rape. [...]

[NV] Pahrump Minutemen hold first meeting
Pahrump Valley Times / Feb. 2, 2007
Pahrump's Minutemen held their first meeting Saturday, Jan. 27 and are eager for supporters.
Formed to promote awareness about illegal immigration and border security concerns, the parent organization is active in many areas along the border with Mexico. [...]
"Because of TV, people can no longer tell the difference between fact and opinion," said Christopher McCoin. "I am tired of illegal immigrants wanting to have all the rights and privileges of being a citizen of the U.S.A."
"Americans need to stand up for America. It is not our duty to provide the rest of the world an American standard of life. In Mexico for instance, you don't work, you don't eat. Here they give you an Escalade and satellite TV, all due to the social entitlement programs to include Social Security. [...]
