Jose Antonio Gutierrez short life is poignantly profiled in this haunting documentary about the first U.S. soldier killed in the 2003 Iraq invasion. A green card marine refugee from Guatemala, Gutierrez lost both parents in Guatemala's 30 year war (waged by a string of juntas supported by the U.S. government). As if chasing his ghost, we follow his life and dreams in the actual locations and with others who are presently reliving the experience and suffering the repercussions of a legacy of injustice and intervention.
