Cuban American Commission for Family Rights offers support to Cuba travel
executives in legal move against new Florida travel regulations

The Cuban American Commission for Family Rights will join a number of Cuba
travel executives in a Monday press conference at 2 p.m., announcing their
repudiation of new Florida regulations which go into effect July 1, which
make it harder, and the trip longer and costlier, for Cuban-Americans to
visit family members in Cuba. Although the Commission is not directly
involved in the lawsuit against the State of Florida presented by the travel
executives, Commission members cited the continued cruelty and
discrimination aimed at Cuban families by the state and federal governments
for their support of this legal action.

"It is shameful that politicians should use the issue of family separation
for political and electoral purposes," said Silvia Wilhelm, executive
director of the Commission. "We tried stopping this by trying to talk sense
to the politicians. They refused to listen. I hope the court recognizes the
unfairness and unconstitutionality of this charade," she added.

The press conference is slated for 2:30 p.m., Monday, June 30, at the law
offices of Kurzban Kurzban Weinger & Tetzeli, 2650 SW 27th Ave - Second
Floor, in Miami, Florida.

"Sadly, at a time when the Florida economy is suffering, the governor and
legislature decide to try and put legitimate tax-paying companies out of
business," said Alvaro Fernandez, Commission president. "Not only will they
make travel more arduous and expensive, but it looks like their frivolous
action will result in hundreds of Floridians losing their jobs. Somebody
needs to ask them why...," ventured Fernandez.

The Cuban American Commission for Family Rights is an organization started
in June 2004, after new measures were implemented by the Bush Administration
limiting family travel to Cuba to once every three years. The organization's
sole purpose is the defense of the family against any measure which helps
separate Cubans on both sides of the Florida Straits.
