1st Annual La Raza Latina/o Law Symposium

University of California, Hastings' La Raza Law Students Association invites you to attend our
1st Annual La Raza Latina/o Law Symposium:
 Affirming Latina/o Realities in California
When: Thursday, October 19, 2006 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
Where: Hiram Johnson State Building Auditorium, located at 455
Golden Gate Avenue, in San Francisco. (Civic Center BART)

The symposium will consist of three panels.  The first panel, "Discovery: Latina/o Demographics" will highlight the recent demographic changes in Latina/o communities in California.  The second panel, "Cause of Action: Latina/o Identity as Legal Targets," will bring to light proposed changes in the law that target specific Latina/o communities and focuses on issues of immigration, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer marriages, criminalization of Latina/o youth, and education v. incarceration.  The final panel, "Decree: Restitution, Making Latina/os Whole," will feature Latina/o leadership and how Latina/o leaders have and continue to create avenues for Latina/o communities to access empowering tools and resources.
