Safe Streets/Strong Communities Seeks Co-Director

 

Safe Streets/Strong Communities, a dynamic post-Katrina organization fighting for a just and equitable rebuilding of New Orleans' through the transformation of the city's criminal justice/public safety systems is seeking a dynamic, fearless, and committed leader to join our team and Co-Direct the organization.

 

Safe Streets/Strong Communities combines grassroots organizing, policy advocacy and strategic media to build power in low income communities of color in New Orleans to challenge and transform the criminal justice/public safety systems.  We are seeking someone who will commit themselves to the equitable rebuilding of New Orleans, to racial justice specifically in the context of the criminal justice system in the South, and to Safe Streets' mission and team.  You must have experience in leading campaigns and preferably ones that have built power and achieved concrete wins.  You must be a passionate and aggressive leader who thrives under pressure, and who is committed to working with and building the capacity and skills of an amazing team. 

 

Your job would include strategic campaign development, leadership development, supervision and fundraising.

 

People of color and those who have direct experience with the criminal justice system are strongly encouraged to apply.

 

Safe Streets/Strong Communities has a benefits package, including health and dental, and salary is $40-$45,000/yr, depending on experience.
